Sometimes, even with the best of intentions, the strictest of diets or endless numbers of toning exercises, stubborn areas of fat, cellulite and sagging skin can still evade us. In this instance there are several techniques which can enable you to sculpt your body into the shape you want.

Accent™ Radiofrequency

Accent™ Radiofrequency (RF) technology is a non invasive treatment that can be used to tighten most areas of the body including the thighs, stomach, arms, buttocks and face. In this way it can be used as a body contouring device, but also has the ability to reduce fat and cellulite in targeted areas.

How does it work?

Accent™ works by heating the inner layers of the skin with radio frequency waves, which stimulates the production of collagen, causes fat cell death and induces lymphatic drainage of fatty deposits.

The aim of the treatment is to create a temperature of 39-41°C in the layers of skin below the epidermis, causing the death of fat cells and the stimulation of collagen to plump up the skin. There are two handpieces which are used for the different depths of heating required for different purposes. For tightening and contouring areas such as the face, thighs or buttocks the heat is transferred from one side of the bipolar hand piece to the other, penetrating the dermis layer.

For fat reduction and cellulite treatment on the buttocks, stomach, arms and hips, the unipolar hand piece is used to penetrate up to 20mm into the adipose tissue. There is only one side to this hand piece so the heat penetrates much further into the fat layer than the bipolar hand piece. Cellulite can be both superficial and deep set, which means the two different handpieces can treat all aspects of it.

What is it suitable for?

Everything! Accent™ can be used as an anti-aging solution to tighten the facial contours, as a body reshaping tool and as a treatment for cellulite, which makes it suitable for use in any problem areas.

Is it painful?

Most patients do not find this treatment uncomfortable, and often liken it to a hot stone massage! No anaesthetic or analgesic is needed with this procedure. There is no burning of the skin, as a cooling system is built into the technology to prevent the epidermis becoming damaged, and this results in no downtime from the treatment.

Endermologie

Endermologie is a treatment that can be used specifically for targeting stubborn areas of cellulite, but also has the ability to tone both the face and body, improve water retention and combat Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

How does it work?

The hand held device uses an intermittent suction and rolling action to improve the appearance of cellulite by intensively massaging and breaking down fat in the subcutaneous layer of the skin. It has the added benefit of stimulating the lymphatic system to get rid of toxins and relieve water retention.

What is it suitable for?

Endermologie can work on any area where cellulite is a problem such as:
Stomach
Thighs
Buttocks

If it is being used as a toning technique on the face or body then a less intensive course of therapy will be needed compared with cellulite reduction.

Is it painful?

As this is a non-invasive technique that uses massage, no pain is felt by the patient. In fact, some people find the treatment so relaxing that they only have it done for this reason!

Laser Assisted Liposuction (SmartLipo^®)

SmartLipo^® is also known as laser assisted liposuction, whereby fat cells are destroyed and removed from areas of the body where cellulite or excess fat is a problem.

How does it work?

This is a minimally invasive treatment, that requires the use of a local anaesthetic to the area of concern. A small laser is inserted into the skin at the problem site, it is then switched on and heated to 45°C. At this temperature the fat cell membranes the laser comes into contact with begin to disintegrate and essentially the fat ‘melts’ away. It is released into the body as a liquid, where it is disposed of through the natural processes or aspirated out. The laser will seal of any minor blood vessels and stimulate collagen production, giving a smooth, sculpted finish.

SmartLipo^® can be used on areas of stubborn cellulite and excess fat, specifically:
Thighs
Stomach
Buttocks

Is it painful?

The procedure is a less invasive version of liposuction, which means it does not cause the same level of trauma. There is generally little or no discomfort, and the bruising is minimal.
