One of the greatest scourges to the modern woman is cellulite

We all hate it, and an increasing number of women seem to have it. With the pressure of looking good upon us, many women are now turning to salons in the quest to gain control of cellulite for good.

Cellulite is a term used to describe fatty tissues that cause the overlying skin to appear dimpled. It is more commonly known as “Orange peel”. It usually affects the buttocks, thighs, triceps and knees. The
term actually originated in France and began appearing in English language publications in the late 1960s.

This client has had a course of 20 Endermologie sessions combined with 6 Skin Tightening treatments. The client was a size 16 before the course of treatments and she went down to a size 14 by the time the course has finished.

Cellulite is caused by poor venous and lymphatic circulation, providing poor elimination of waste products from the body. This is most often found in those who have a sedentary lifestyle which has resulted in weight gain, or those with a poor diet and metabolism problems due to hormonal imbalance. As such, the first thing most clients should try is a change of lifestyle. A change in diet, additional exercise and drinking plenty of water can all help to combat cellulite. Of course, the client should always consult their medical practitioner before making any dramatic changes to their lifestyle.

Once a client has turned to our therapists for help, we will then  set up a treatment plan which will improve circulation, mobilise fatty tissue and generally improve the appearance of the skin. Treatments that can improve cellulite are ‘Endermologie’ and/or ‘Skin Tightening’

What is Endermologie?

It is the first FDA approved and clinically proven method to reduce cellulite, tone up, improve circulation and water retention, combat muscle stiffness and back pain

Endermologie was founded by a French man called Louis Paul Getti, after he had a car accident which caused connective tissue damage in his legs. After some research the Endermologie machine was developed.

By using “roll out”, “roll in” and “lift” techniques the treatment can work on contouring, sculpting and firming the body.

What is Skin Tightening?

The Accent Skin Tightening machine uses radiofrequency to produce heat deep down in the dermal layer of skin, and work on the fat bundles. It brings about new collagen formation and skin remodelling. The stimulation enhances blood circulation and helps drain trapped fatty deposits and toxins. Finally its thermal activity serves to shrink the fat cells.

During the treatment the technology causes the inner layer of skin to become heated whilst the outer layer is cooled. This creates a natural reaction promoting new collagen to firm and smooth. A course of treatments will be needed to provide firmer, tighter and an improved appearance of the skin.

Combined Treatments:

Endermologie and Skin Tightening as treatments on their own give excellent results, but a combination of the two treatments can give a client maximum benefit. After an in- depth consultation a therapist will give you the information needed for your own personal treatment plan.

For maximum results the Endermologie was done twice a week, while the Skin Tightening was done once a week.
