Help is at hand! You can have your eyebrows back! Semi-permanent make-up techniques can be used to restore what has been lost. Once applied, this make-up stays in place perfectly all day, every day, irrespective of the weather. You can also redefine your lip and eye contours (using semi-permanent eyeliner and lip liner).
Why only semi-permanent? The pigments used are designed to fade, typically over two to five years (or more), because the colour which suits you at 25 may not be suitable at 40 or even 80 years of age. Clients usually have a single ‘top-up’ treatment every couple of years or so. We can simultaneously review the colour match and adjust things as required taking into account changing hair colour and skin tone.
At your first treatment, time is spent discussing colour, shape and selecting a mixture of pigments to suit your skin. A topical anaesthetic is applied to the area being treated to minimise any discomfort before your brows, lips or eyes are minimally painted with the selected pigments. At this point, the overall shape and desired final effect is assessed to ensure your satisfaction before the procedure is taken to the end of this first stage.
A second phase of treatment is required after a fortnight or so and very occasionally a third top-up may be necessary for fine-tuning. The reason for more than one phase is to ensure that the transition from no brows to full brows is subtle and to minimise any skin irritation.
“Does it hurt?” – is a question commonly asked. About as much as plucking or having your eyebrows waxed. The topical anaesthetic is very effective, and most clients say it was much more comfortable than anticipated. The healing process takes around five days and is not obvious to any onlookers.
What about semi-permanent eye and lip liner? They are used to achieve a much more subtle effect than traditional painted-on make-up. Lip liner is useful if one desires the accentuation of the natural lip, but should not be used to inappropriately enhance the lip size. Clients are advised to choose shades that are slightly darker than their natural tones for maximum effects. Fashion trends do change and the popularity of browns and burgundys two or three years ago would look very dated now. The expertise of Linden Sheffield exists to guide you through the process of decision-making and treatment to make sure your satisfaction is long lasting.
