Well groomed or rough and ready?

Well groomed or rough and ready?

In today’s world it is so easy to be influenced by the glamour of Hollywood and we can see why so many have followed the example of top celebrities in a bid to become more beautiful. These days however, more and more men are also dashing off to salons and spas to get primped and preened to perfection. So what do women really think of male grooming?

It seems that a lot of women think it is acceptable to open a guy’s bathroom cabinet and find moisturiser, hair gel, hair clippers and an expensive aftershave. Others would rather that their men did not use any products to improve their image.

Despite the differences of opinion on what is attractive, most women seem to agree on what is definitely unattractive. After all, it is one thing for a guy to have a growth of manly stubble on his chin or to run his fingers through his hair instead of a comb, but it is an entirely different matter when he fails to include things like brushing his teeth and applying deodorant in his daily routine!

If a man spends more time than his date grooming himself before dinner and as a consequence arrives late, it is likely that he will have a close shave with disappointment. Women find it quite unromantic to date a man who spends most of the time grooming their perfectly plucked eyebrows and searching for stray nostril hairs, rather than focusing on the goddess seated on the other side of the table.

Do women want a rough and rugged guy? Or a well groomed gentleman? Or a cross between both? What most of us fail to realise is that it can take considerable hours of preparation to turn out the sexy, just rolled out of bed look that celebrity men wear so well.

Men are spending just as much time and money on treatments and products to look tousled and natural as they would to look smart and clean-cut. There are a number of contemporary male grooming shortcuts which can be useful for the discerning gentleman.
